Our Story
Pepe’s Restaurants have continuously served the Southland with fine quality Mexican food. Pepe’s was founded in 1962 by three brothers, Joe, Tony and Fred.
During the early years, the brothers often relied on the help of family members to keep the business going. In 1962, their nephew was sent to fight in Vietnam and the brothers named the restaurant "Pepe's" after him.
In the following years, the restaurant had become a great success. However, in 1973 Tony passed away leaving Joe and Fred to run the business. In 1976, the expansion of Pepe’s Restaurants began, starting with the opening of the Downey location. Since then, Pepe’s has continued to grow, opening locations in both Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley and Orange Counties.
The restaurants have continuously served high quality & authentic Mexican food using secret family recipes, making Pepe’s the well-known establishment it is today.
